A little further away
What to do a little further away
The Marche region is well worth discovering. Here are a few possibilities:
Car rides: In our information map you will find four tours described for a nice day out. Fun and varied. Fermo: This town, high on a hill near the sea, is only a 30– 40 minutes drive by car away from Agricamp Picobello. Besides the Duomo and the Piazza del Popolo the night market is a real tourist attraction. This market takes place in July and August on every Thursday night and lasts until midnight. Early August the ‘Calvalcata dell’Assunta’ is organized in Fermo. This horse race through the city centre is a true spectacle. Ascoli Piceno: A beautiful city with many towers, squares, churches and cobbled streets, a 45-minutes drive from Agricamp Picobello. The annual highlight is the ‘Quintana’, parades with knights, flag bearers and other city residents. The Grand Finale takes place in the stadium where horsemen compete against each other during the races. Macerata: This university town, an hour from Agricamp Picobello, offers a beautiful and lively center. Macerata is known for the Opera and we recommend you to book tickets in advance. For more information click here. Civitella del Tronto: The fort, which covers the entire hill above the village of Civitella, is one of the most important military buildings in Europe. The dimensions are enormous and you can easily spend a few hours here. Tours of the fort are impressive and easily could be combined with a visit to Ascoli Piceno. And more: The cities of Rome and Assisi are simply too far away for a daytrip. Leave your tent here for one night, take the bus or drive to Assisi or Rome, enjoy a two-day city trip, and come back to Agricamp Picobello afterwards. Booking accommodation for one night is quickly arranged. Adventure: Quercus Park in Ripatransone is an adventure park with adventurous routes in the canopy. Suitable for almost all ages and offering a few hours of excitement and adventure on rope bridges, aerial runways and other obstacles. In Ripantransone you will also find the narrowest street in Italy (43 cm). Golf: At the Golf Club I Lauri you can play golf on a 9-hole course. The club is beautifully situated and offers lovely views of the surrounding area. It is a half-hour drive to the club and can be combined with a visit to the town of Montefiore dell’Aso as well. Website of the club click here. Trekking/Mountain Walks: Agricamp Picobello is a great starting point for the hiker. Ask Erna for more information and an impression of the near by National Park. Paragliding/hang gliding: Castelluccio, located on the Piano Grande, is home to a flight school where you can paraglide or hangglide. A trip to the Piano Grande is highly recommended, especially when later in spring poppies, bluebottles and lentils flower and create a “Van Gogh-like ” colour palette. Frasassi: DThe Frasassi Caves are the largest in Europe, discovered just after the war. New rooms and corridors are still being discovered. The dimensions are huge (the Milan Cathedral fits in it) and the lighting is designed by artists. The two-hour drive is worth it, especially on a rainy day. The website of the caves can be found here. Beach: Along the Adriatic coast (half an hour drive) you will find sand and pebble beaches. Stroll along the boulevards and discover some good fish restaurants, ice cream parlors and other eateries. Often there are sun-beds for rent but you can also find yourself a spot on the so-called “Free Beaches”.
Of course there is much more to do in the region. Shopping in outlets , playing in the water park, a trip through the Abruzzi and a visit to Loreto are just some of the things we could add to our list. We can give you tips and advice to make your holiday even more enjoyable.
